😅You’re going to have to help me with this reference. All I know about Phuket is it’s in Thailand. But obviously it has a long history so I’d love to know why you included it here. Or maybe there’s a personal connection?
I'm calling Phuket's beaches and islands hell. Hedonistic and can be fun as hell, but hell. They do have burning ropes to play jump rope with and fire games on the beach. You do have to take a ferry to get there--albeit on the Andaman, not the Styx.
Ah ok! That’s actually a really cool contrast between the dull and dark Hades and what sounds like the empty pleasure of Phuket. I really like it. Thank you for taking the time to enlighten me!
Sinking down 'neath ground
Heat rises ever higher
Demon cackles loud
This one 🔥 I can feel it.
Not a ladies’ man
Rather be a Hades' man
Where the bad girls live
Same. Yep.
I am especially excited about this one!!
Cassia Lorne -
Urban Fragment Haiku:
Asphalt cracks bleed fire,
Metro’s underworld roars loud, Hades walks, unseen.
-
Milo Viceroy -
Single Breath Haiku:
In the heartbeat skip between flashing traffic lights, shadows whisper myths old as time.
-
Juno Featherstone -
Echoic Echo Haiku:
Souls cross, river wide, silent, Silent, wide river, cross souls.
-
Remy Lang -
Synesthetic Haiku:
Charred brimstone’s scent clings, Whispered shivers taste of mist, Hades’ touch, ice-cold.
-
Quinn Leif -
Digital Disruption Haiku:
Silent notifications, Like Cerberus’ gaze, pause life, Hades' domain @ night.
-
Each haiku
hopefully brings
a fresh, unique take
on the prompt, reflecting the
individual style of these
fictional modern haiku writers.
Wait, fictional?? I’m so amazed rn! This is so cool 😎 I love Juno Featherstone and Cassia Lorne the most🖤🖤🖤 But they are all so good.
Yes. They are “my people.” If Kerouac and other writers change Haiku, why can’t we?
Oh we absolutely should! We should mess with form, invent words. Mess everything up! I love havoc😜
Ditto
Smoke on the water
Charon coming down the Styx
Welcome to Phuket

Here lie before him
Fields of the wandering dead
Speechless, old, unsung -
Do not forget them,
The souls who cross that river
On the cold black tide.
Two today, because I couldn't help myself!
They are exquisitely written.
