(Where I live they call July moon the "hay moon", so...)

Scarecrow gazes up at the moon

pulling at his being, drawing

him down from his pole to hunt

Ok that’s terrifying. But I also love it, what a cool idea🖤

Hay moon is listed as one of the alternative names… I just liked the image of antlers against the moon🤷‍♀️😂

Sure it's absolutely cool - bearing in mind also that the "3 women" symbol for the moon, one of the most ancient cultic symbols, in a way resembles antlers or maybe horns around a full moon. Then you've plugged in to some primordial emblems, you're on your way...

Hunter’s with bow-arrows camouflaged

Wait for bucks antlers in sunrise

Mule deer know hot day ahead.

Lay with doe in shade instead

No beating the bush browsing, wait.

Cheers Gloomster! I was walking home last night and saw it hanging low and yellow in the sky and for all the world (and maybe more), it looked like a cookie to me. Even made up a song, but let’s not go there.

That's how you tell the difference between the bucks and the does....

Personally, I wish *anyone* could have antlers if they wanted.

I'll present two haiku here - one for the prompt you have (Buck Moon) and one that better suits the area I am in (Seneca peoples inhabit lands near where I live, and they call the July full moon the Little Sister of the Summer Moon):

1. Mighty horns cradle moon

as the deer prepare their tools

for fall skirmishes

2. Who rustles fresh corn?

Ah, nobody evil. Just

a girl inspecting.

Those antlers are sharp,

So admire them, but stay back,

Or risk puncture wounds... 😎

Haha! We have deer in some of the parks in London. People keep trying to take selfies next to them. And quite a few times, it hasn't gone well... 😎

Apparently every month has a moon name (or a few names depending on where you live). Just learned that myself this month🤷‍♀️😂

and I was draped in wet skin
