Down on me, my head itches
Where antlers will sprout
It was given this name because at this time of year, bucks’ antlers are in full growth.
(Where I live they call July moon the "hay moon", so...)
Scarecrow gazes up at the moon
pulling at his being, drawing
him down from his pole to hunt
Hunter’s with bow-arrows camouflaged
Wait for bucks antlers in sunrise
Mule deer know hot day ahead.
Lay with doe in shade instead
No beating the bush browsing, wait.
