Horror Haiku Club Prompt
May 28 - The Little Mermaid
In Hans Christian Andersen’s 1837 story, The Little Mermaid makes a deal with a sea witch to gain human form in order to win the love of a prince. The prince enjoys her dancing and treats her like a pet, forcing her to sleep on the floor outside his bedroom door.
Your prompt is THE LITTLE MERMAID.
He’ll never see you
Dancing where you don’t belong
Float on, you’re sea foam
He then marries another, breaking The Little Mermaid’s heart. Her sisters bring her a knife, for if she kills the prince, she can become a mermaid again. Instead she kills herself and becomes sea foam.
