It fits very well, the last line reads either hopeful or sinister to me, which I like.

Also, I used to watch the Monkees on Nickelodeon when I was a kid. Davey really kills those maracas🥰😂

This made me want to listen to The Chariot

And death and witch, maybe -

As someone posted above, my first thought was "Strange Fruit" as well. So I'll keep the music theme going but far, far less seriously (forgive me, no offense meant):

Mary, think you'd go?

Tell me truly, what's been done?

Girl, it's not over.

Hat tip to The Monkees:

An animation swinging

Back and forth

A deep breath

Of fresh air

Kept her there

To see sunrise.

Omg, this is serendipity as I once wrote a child like poem of Spooky Mary without even knowing about Mary Webster. Quite similar to your prompt, lovely haiku you wrote. Thank you for the little bits I continually learn from you.

Her story is so amazing. She was actually accused of witchcraft again later in life and acquitted then, too.

That is quite interesting. Might have to read up on that.

Had to look up those lyrics and wow. I’m at work so I’ll listen later but that’s powerful.
