The kelpie is a creature of Scottish legend. It lives as a beautiful black stallion in deep pools in rivers and streams.

Beautiful black horse
Waiting in a deep, deep pool
Devouring maidens
But can transform into a man, to lure humans to its home.
Haiku, inspired by Richard Wright's poignant style:
Beneath the still moon,
Black horse emerges, cloaked in
Lonely hunger pangs.

Ripples betray him,
His mane flickers with despair—
Nature’s cruel decree.

Autumn wind whispers,
He answers in low echoes,
A friendless feast calls.
Kelpie oiled and slick
Black reflection in full moonlights
Slip into bubbles to bathe
Imagined waiting washed delight.
