Ph'nglui mglw'nafh

Cthulhu R'lyeh

Haha! I put it on the header and I didn’t even think to see if it fit. Genius!

Alien psychic

As planets align June 3

Cthulhu appears

Honeygloom's avatar

June 3rd!!!??? I’m not ready😭

Caro Henry's avatar

Neither am I. 😜 In a rare astronomical event on June 3rd, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will align, and you may be able to see all six planets align in the sky.

Leigh Parrish's avatar

Can one ever be truly ready, though?

erniet's avatar

The Old Ones will be

To reclaim what was once theirs

When Cthulhu wakes

Honeygloom's avatar

I for one look forward to our new alien overlords.

erniet's avatar

You should read "Cthulhu's Reign." It's an anthology of stories about what might happen if the Great Old Ones returned. It is truly the stuff of nightmares...😬

Ooo sounds good. It’s added to my ever-growing Amazon book wish list😅

Deathless Cthulhu

Eternal malevolence

Immersed lies dreaming

Honeygloom's avatar

Eternal malevolence😁

Leigh Parrish's avatar

Everyone's trying

To leave California. Why?

Cthulhu moved in.

Honeygloom's avatar

Hey! Maybe I can afford a house now👍😂

Richbee's avatar

Saucer eyes magnify

Tentacle snakes grow from head

Scallop scales like nails sizzle

Wise than the ants forms that fizzle.

Honeygloom's avatar

Oh man I love that scales description😍

Richbee's avatar

Wiser than the human ants that fizzle?

ClownWorld Shakespeare's avatar

I second that question.

Honeygloom's avatar

Fizzling in such a situation seems very wise actually.

David Perlmutter's avatar

He dreams about conquering the inferior human race (Thus spoke the prophet Howard Phillips Lovecraft).

Honeygloom's avatar

Human is so subjective though…

Gloria Horton-Young's avatar

Whispers from the deep,

Ancient echoes stir the sea—

Cthulhu’s dreams wake.

In R’lyeh’s shadow,

Time bends around silent gods—

Dark waters hold truth.

Sunken city’s call,

Mysteries locked under waves—

Eternal sleep stirs.

Stars hide their faces,

Cosmic winds carry old fears—

Cthulhu whispers.

Ocean’s heart pulses,

Dreams of chaos touch the minds—

Ancient god dreams on.

Honeygloom's avatar

These are incredible! I have chills! I think #4 is my fave, personifying the universe like that somehow makes Cthulhu an even bigger horror🖤

Ika Wright's avatar

Sorry for the late response. I love Cthulhu's mythos. Cosmic indeed! Nice haiku Honeygloom.

Honeygloom's avatar

There are no late responses, time is relative😏

Nico Sakaki's avatar

Crafted with blind love

For the evil in your mind

You made that up too

Honeygloom's avatar

Ooo this almost feels like a dig at Lovecraft, who was of course a horrible person. I like it a lot🖤 Well done!

Nico Sakaki's avatar

Haha it totally was, I’m glad that came through!

Ken Flyingheart's avatar

In immortal dreams

Death’s shadow has tentacles

Hiding eager smiles

Honeygloom's avatar

This image is so creepy, just the thought of a big grin under Cthulhu’s tentacles 🫣

Ken Flyingheart's avatar

Can’t turn it off, sorry!

Honeygloom's avatar

Please don’t ever turn it off! I’m a huge fan of how your brain works 👍

Ken Flyingheart's avatar

Be careful what you wish for. Was thinking about using you in an upcoming story. And I also used your ravens in my last one— just a little bit!

Honeygloom's avatar

I will die of delight (and maybe in fiction?) if you use me in a story! How cool!

ClownWorld Shakespeare's avatar

"Broadcasting anxiety"

Makes me think of the movie Network with William Holden.

Honeygloom's avatar

I just watched the trailer… yeah I now have anxiety, that’s an apt comparison😂

ClownWorld Shakespeare's avatar

You've never seen it? Great movie.

Honeygloom's avatar

From the trailer it looked very prescient… or things just haven’t changed.

ClownWorld Shakespeare's avatar

Okay, so this ain't a haiku. I'm trying my hand at reverse poetry. Poems that can be read normally first line to bottom, but also can be read bottom line first, keep going up and then the first line is the last.

The world premiere right here on the 'gloom, a reverse poem. Comments please, especially constructive ones. F&%$ flattery!

Cthulhu ain’t so bad

In fact, maybe I should make a habit of looking closer into things and not accept the popular wisdom

I should perceive friends not as the world presents them, but rather how they really are

I really need to be more truthful with myself when picking friends

I have to admit though

Cthulhu is bad news

Honeygloom's avatar

This is a really cool idea! I think it almost works, there are a couple places, lines 3 and 5 from the top, that didn’t quite work on the bottom up read for me. Mainly ‘things’ and ‘but rather’ stuck out.

ClownWorld Shakespeare's avatar

Ok great, I'm gonna copy that comment as a note for when I got to rewrite it, thank you!

erniet's avatar

Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

In his house in R'lyeh dead Cthulhu lies dreaming...
