From around 1400 to 1775 around 100,000 women, men, and some children, we executed for the crime of witchcraft.
Your prompt is BURNING TIMES.
Thou shalt not permit
A witch to live. Our bodies
Returned to the earth
The reasons are complicated, but fear and horrific living conditions bear some of the burden.
Hair burns and skin cracks;
Eyes glaze, rendered fat sizzles.
Burn, witch, burn in Hell!
Actually, that seems to be a picture of someone burning a nudist, and appropriate because nudists were also burned at the stake although few people are aware of this because the "clothers" tend to keep such things out of the history books due to their bias against people who just want to live free of the entanglements of pants and dresses and such.
