You know there was study that demonstrated that the movie Psycho saved countless lives because people thought stabbing people in the chest with a butcher's knife was effective. In reality it just bounces off the ribs and causes superficial wounds.
Want to kill someone with a knife? Get a paring knife, slide it behind the trachea/esophagus, and cut forward...the person will drown in their own blood in less than a minute.
Some other points about the article; arteries are DEEP. They are also elastic and, even if you get deep enough to hit one your knife is more likely to push it to one side than cut or puncture it. If you have a knife and can't stab the throat go for eyes/face; even if you don't get an eye facial cuts bleed a lot and the blood may blind the person (thst's where slashing can be a useful technique). Failing that stab upward into the abdomen with the sharp edge upward. If you can open the body cavity enough the person may find themselves tripping on their own intestines. Remember though you're going through skin, fat, then muscle, then peritoneum....that's a lot of layers! So you better have a long knife!
I looked at the video...the guy sweeping the knife around like a sword isn't go to kill any one, he's just going to cut them a lot but superficially. And when something on the seven most lethal places to kill a person starts with the base of the skull that tells me one thing...they've never actually stabbed or cut a living, moving creature with a knife. Two points; first, skin is tougher than you think. Remember it's what leather is made from. Second; you are not going to push a knife through bone using only the strength of your arms. Period.
I killed pigs (while they were on the ground with my knee on their head) by pushing the blade of my knife between the neck and where the collar bone would be on a person, with the sharp in towards the center of the body. I often had to hit the pommel with my other hand the get the blade through the skin. Once in, I would move the knife medially until it hit the ascending aorta; the pig would die in less than a minute.
The technique I told you above with paring knife is what they teach to military special forces.
Another way, which criminals use, is a bunch of quick stabs from behind just one side of the spine. The aim here is to hit a kidney or, if you're lucky, the renal artery. This is the "prison shiv" technique.
Such a great rhythm to this one!
Some rage, but a cage
Works both ways, it keeps it in
And it keeps them out.
I love this🖤 We don’t always think of the double function, so we?
Ooh I’m a day late but I can’t resist this prompt!
Bruising my knuckles
On a bone-cage round the truth,
This heart wants to fight.
Fight!! I love this! I’m so glad you joined in😊
From Adam’s flesh Eve
Broke free to eat from the tree
Now known as folly
To knowledge she reached
For wisdom eternally
While man did nothing
Hey, I like the twist there. Well done 🖤
Bony guardians
Of vital organs; heart, lungs;
Slip the knife between…
🖤Exactly. We really should evolve some crosshatching.

That’s crazy. Norman Bates would be appalled.
I’ve used this website before when I have to do knife scenes, I don’t know how accurate it is, but it’s interesting.
