A long unwelcome resident of my home province of Manitoba. The town of Komarno cemented its place by making a giant statue of one.
If you can’t beat ‘em… make them your gods?
I suppose so. We have some giant sized polar bears in Winnipeg, plus a giant goose in Wawa, Ontario and a giant pysanka (Ukrainian Orthodox Easter egg) in Vegreville, Alberta, and they are all (mostly) objects of veneration...

to gorge the blood of my eye

Yes, that's actually a real thing. Cattle and other livestock can sometimes die from multiple bites, and the loss of blood it causes... 😎
This is a fiend that's been the Muse to some of my writing. Good prompt and Haiku Honeygloom. Definitely relatable!

They are in an annoying sort of way.
Swatting them suckers
They carry an evil gift
Ow! Now have dengue.

Love the “blood thief’s kiss”🖤 Only you could make mosquitoes alluring!
In dim night whispers,
She pierces soft flesh gently—
Silent blood thief's kiss.
Wings hum their secrets,
Moon wakes her ancient hunger—
Life’s delicate dance.
Still mosquito rests,
Crimson sustenance in veins—
Eggs dream of new dawn.
This is doing wonders to improve the image of the mosquito. It makes them seem very sensual and romantic. Beautiful job... 😎
