I suppose so. We have some giant sized polar bears in Winnipeg, plus a giant goose in Wawa, Ontario and a giant pysanka (Ukrainian Orthodox Easter egg) in Vegreville, Alberta, and they are all (mostly) objects of veneration...
The female is often more dangerous. Certainly true of the giant spiders from Arach (in the story in my latest book). Sethla mates, eats the male, and sets off for her journey to Earth. She's coming to a neighborhood near you. Bwahaha!
I had never heard
The word proboscis until
You stuck yours in me
Such a great word😌
A long unwelcome resident of my home province of Manitoba. The town of Komarno cemented its place by making a giant statue of one.
If you can’t beat ‘em… make them your gods?

West Nile Virus girl
Cleopatra's plasma twirl.
Those veins tilt and whirl...
Made me dizzy just reading. Very nicely done🖤
Just think of me as
A tiny vampire that flies!
You like vampires, right?
Hmm is mosquito suggesting we make it fictional?
Shepherds purse seeds cast
In skeeters eggs in water
Sticks the larvae together
A needle in their eyes to die.
Wow that’s pretty cool🖤
Paralysed, gazing, I lie -
tiger mosquito comes
to gorge the blood of my eye
Perfect opening scene in a mosquito creature feature. I absolutely love the image🖤

Sounds fun!
May I take your blood?
I just need a small amount,
But so do my friends... 😎
That’s the rub, isn’t it. One bite, meh, a hundred? 😵
Yes, that's actually a real thing. Cattle and other livestock can sometimes die from multiple bites, and the loss of blood it causes... 😎
This is a fiend that's been the Muse to some of my writing. Good prompt and Haiku Honeygloom. Definitely relatable!
They’re oddly compelling aren’t they?
They are in an annoying sort of way.
Swatting them suckers
They carry an evil gift
Ow! Now have dengue.
Scary stuff!! love “evil gift” as a description🖤
Love the “blood thief’s kiss”🖤 Only you could make mosquitoes alluring!
In dim night whispers,
She pierces soft flesh gently—
Silent blood thief's kiss.
Wings hum their secrets,
Moon wakes her ancient hunger—
Life’s delicate dance.
Still mosquito rests,
Crimson sustenance in veins—
Eggs dream of new dawn.
This is doing wonders to improve the image of the mosquito. It makes them seem very sensual and romantic. Beautiful job... 😎
Well, everybody’s got to eat. 🧛
