Nicely done. I'm a big fan of James so this was pleasing to read. I think he would have been satisfied. You captured his style really well, and even better so if Ambrose has trouble looking at any black dresses in the window after dark.

Thank you so much! I’ve been reading his ghost stories and I love his subtle style. I really wanted to give it a try. Ambrose is a ruined man, black drapery, mourning crepe, priests, forget it, lol.

I always geek over the whistle story and the Ash-Tree but for different reasons. The whistle is a perfect spooky ghost story and one I can always relate to when I wake up at 2am and get spooked by the blankets. Ash-Tree is just terrifying, the way they come crawling out of the burrow at the end.

Those are two of my favorites as well, and I love the very nonchalant ending of Number 13.

Such a well told story. I love when a super rational man gets pulled into this type of mystery and horror. Loved your use of foxes as well.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. “Rational Man Has Brush With Paranormal” is definitely the M. R. James formula 😂 It was super fun to write!

Well done! Also "gekkering" is maybe a perfect word I never knew existed. So thank you.
