I didn’t know ferns flowered…or a lot more you included in this post. I do know if you cut fern leaves and put them insides your pillowcase, you won’t need melatonin to sleep. 💤
Fascinating! I love ferns and when I moved here there were lots of beautiful ostrich plumes (?) in the garden. When I pulled up the landscape fabric and amended the soil, I apparently broke some spell and released an absolute army of them, and now the back garden looks like Jurassic Park. But I love them.
We grow ferns both here and at the camp site. When I see them, I think about harvesting them, but I'm happier knowing that they will become Ferns. Plus, I don't know if the kind we have here are the kind you typically would eat. I'm studying foraging, and I guess you are too. Do you grow Rosemary at your Cabin? My Mom says that Rosemary means a Strong Woman lives here.

Oh no ferns don’t flower, medieval people just didn’t understand spoors and stuff so they told some… ahem… tales lol.
So I misread. Thanks for clarifying.

Ferns are great colonizers! They love a spot of fresh ground. They’re often some of the first plants to grow after fires and even volcanic eruptions.
Have you had fiddleheads?
No! I never have, I really want to try them though.

I live in an apartment and herbs don’t do well indoors usually. I’ve never heard that before though, I love it!
