The Amoroq is a lone wolf of giant size told of in Inuit legends. They can be male or female, but one story involves a mother wolf who returns from hunting to find her pups have all been slaughtered.

A lone mother wolf
Her pups’ lives stolen from her
Revenge, a cold soul
When she finds the killer, the Amoroq goes to a nearby lake and pulls an anthropomorphic form from the water. As she does, the killer drops dead. It’s his soul she’s taken from the lake.
White wolf, lone hunter,
Stalking the night time stalker
To punish folly.
Many fear amarok
Fangs on their throat, sharp enough
To pull souls from flesh
