But this list of the dead encompasses many tanks and many creatures, from snails to newts to guppies and small sharks... I've even gone through some fish "pandemics" with stuff like ich where the fish drop like flies for weeks on end. And those half-dozen puffers that got lost in an unfortunate algae bloom in a newish tank.... I could go on....
Sorry about your fish😔 It sounds like a frustrating hobby! This is why I stick with plants, even when you have bug problems you don’t just lose a bunch of your babies.
Snails, goldfish, crabs in a tank. Creatures a stir—puffer fish dried. A prickly subject but finally eaten by insects that decompose life that was flying from a ceiling dropping debris from a time gone bye.
Deep sea medusa
Gracefully undulating
To capture your prey
I love this image! Deadly, yet passive, makes it so much creepier🖤
Love that Medusa imagery!
Cnidarians (stinging celled organisms) have two forms; medusae and hydrae.
Remember I was a zoology major!😂
Cool 😎
Of course… what was I thinking?! And although I studied aquatic ecology, I didn’t study any stinging creatures of the sea!
It's my General Zoology coming through...surprised I remember it, but I did grow up near the ocean so there were lots of examples to be seen...

I took a Anatomy and physiology. Got clawed by cadaver cat. Formaldehyde didn’t help.
Man O’ War jellyfishes,
Life preservers on seas float—
Good for nothing but P & J sandwiches;
To be eaten in your boat.
This reminded me of some song lyrics:
“Eating peanut butter and jelly fishes on toast
And if I get stung, I get stoked, might choke”
The song is called Sucker for Pain😬
With crust removed from toast or is that a toast with a Dose of pain killer on the side.?
With crust. No pain killer. 😭
Tough. Stings.
The rose of the sea
Beauty and peril combined
Behold, touch it not!
Ooo what an interesting parallel, I love it!🖤
Thank you!
But I still try to keep my sense of humor [or maybe not!]:
Why did the Stinger...
...try to steal Nettle’s boyfriend?
She was jelly(fish).
😂 I like it a lot!
Hither, thither, yon
Floating, tentacles reach, seek
Beware awesome sting
I love this! Sort of a haphazard hazard🖤
Pellucid harpooners!
Nice!
🙏😊

That sweet jelly sting
Iridescent numbing glow
Paralyzed, in awe

This was one of the harder ones to write, purely because of how mesmerizing jellyfish are to look at lmao. They're like underwater nebulae!
I love love this! The double danger of being hypnotized, but also stung is a cool take!
I know right!? I love looking at them, but they’re also really terrifying.
Thanks! Yeah, it wouldn’t be the worst way to go 😆
😂
Pale bubbles rising
Carbonating liquid
Taste paralyzing
I love the last line! What does paralysis taste like? I love it when poetry makes me question my senses🖤
Ahh jellyfish, I made a FotoFriday post on them (FF11). Beautiful yet dangerous!
Truly amazing creatures!
Aww, one of my fish died today. #386 on the list. I keep a "reminder" log of all the fish I've owned since 2002. And that's not a haiku, it's true!
