This ancient Egyptian god of the harvest, agriculture, fertility, and resurrection is usually depicted with green skin, a pharaoh’s beard, and mummy wrapped legs.
Your prompt is OSIRIS
In fourteen pieces
Cut, bound, and resurrected
We swell, as the Nile
There are several versions of the Osiris myth, so I’ll sum up the most interesting elements. As the story goes, Osiris’ brother Set killed him to get his throne. Osiris’ wife, Isis, finds Osiris’ remains cut into fourteen pieces in some reeds along the Nile. She binds them together with mummy wrappings, then uses a spell to resurrect Osiris so that he can impregnate her. Osiris is then returned to the underworld and Isis eventually gives birth to Horus. Because Osiris is killed and resurrected in order to father a child, he becomes associated with the annual flooding and retreating of the Nile, the lifeblood of Egyptian agriculture.
