Second version:

Smolder

Embers of desire

Banked beneath ashes of time

Lover's sigh ignites

Smolder

In depths of her eyes

Fire smolders, unspoken

His touch, tinder sparked

Smolder

City smolders on

Night's edge, a cigarette burns

Smoke curls, heat promised

Nice! I love that you stuck to the haiku with this one, it’s more contained, but still really powerful.

I did two versions.

*kneels to pray*

Smolder

The embers of desire,

banked beneath the ashes

of time and distance,

await the whispered breath

of a lover's sigh

to reignite the flame.

Smolder

In the depths of her eyes,

a fire smolders,

unspoken, unseen,

until the touch of his hand

ignites the tinder

of her skin.

Smolder

The city smolders,

a cigarette left burning

on the edge of night,

smoke curling like a lover's

fingers through hair,

a promise of heat.

Death-palled skin, red eyes

Gaze smolders, paralyzes

Fangs ready to feed
