Ha! It WAS, until 1996s Aftershocks, where graboids are found in Mexico. Then in 2015’s Bloodlines in South Africa. I haven’t seen those, but I did see 2020’s Shrieker’s Island, set in Thailand where I believe there was a winged species.

Maybe if they eat enough ganglion cells they grow eyes? Hilarious little eye stalks that cut through the sand like periscopes?

GRABOID

1.

Desert-born riders

Tame Shai-Hulud's mighty force

Fremen and worm, one

2.

Hooks pierce thick hide, yet

Symbiosis blooms in sand

Arrakis' true kings

3.

Stillsuit-clad figures

Dance atop colossal worms

Dune's harsh ballet

4.

Spice-blue eyes gleaming

Fremen whisper ancient rites

Worm and man unite

5.

Sand-scarred hands grip hooks

Melange scent fills the air as

Riders guide titans
