Obligate hematophages, ticks are parasitic arachnids most often active in the summer months.

Legs outstretched, waiting
Snatch a passing blood meal, mmm
Drink deep, swell, and grow
In order to grow, ticks must have a blood meal in between each stage of their lifecycle.
Love the middle line, so fragile.
It seems very simple to avoid ticks though, I was surprised at the Lyme disease rate last year.
Lone Star tick waits on bent grass
Lover’s lips kiss and attach
A last swollen fate
Allergy to meat means death.
