So I hadn’t realized before that Godzilla was kind of created to be a metaphor for nuclear warfare so I started reading stuff about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (and got a bit distracted lmao) and thinking about how many of these monsters we have that in some interpretations, are meant to represent or be a reason for these unimaginable acts of cruelty (like the bota or the kapa). It’s almost like we draw the monstrosity out of ourselves and form it into a tangible monster that we can wrap our heads around so we don’t have to look the real thing in the eye—because if we could we wouldn’t be able to live with ourselves.
LOL I’m gonna stop there so I don’t accidentally write a whole ass essay but yeah that’s what was on my mind when I was writing it
I had a feeling that’s where you’d gone and I love this. That’s what monsters always are for me, too, an expression of things we can’t face in ourselves.
I love the original 1933 film with Fay Wray. The 1976 remake with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lang wasn't bad...very much a Beauty and the Beast theme...but I still love the original; I have it on DVD.
"He picks up a bus and he throws it back down as he wades through the buildings in the center of town/Oh no!They say he's got go! Go go Godzilla!/Oh no! There goes Tokyo! Go go Godzilla!"
I feel.like there have been a lot of sea creatures lately. I'm running out of poetic ways to say "from the depths....." lol 😆
Speaking of which have you ever read "The Kraken Wakes" by John Wyndham. Sci fi oceanic horror with mid century British wit. If you like that put it on your list. All his book are great "The Midwich Cuckoos" was adapted to the movie "Village of the Damned". He wrote "Chocky" and "Day of the Triffids" as well if you've ever heard of them.
First and foremost, I love the last line of your haiku so much🖤
As to the rest, lol. It’s MerMay!!! Technically more of an event for artists, but they draw a new mermaid every day for a month. I thought it would be fun to piggyback and do sea/water monsters all month. I have a mix of real and fictional planned. It should be a terribly soggy month with many, many teeth.
I haven’t read anything by him, but I’m definitely going to get Day of the Triffids since plant horror is totally my kink😜
So excited to
Finally visit New York!
Ouch, why'd they shoot me?
😱In the new movie he curls up to sleep in The Colosseum. It’s so cute🥹
this almost made me choke on my coffee
Darkness blankets all
Buildings crumble in its wake
Fear consumes the land
Love this🖤 such epic lines.
What better way to
Feel small than to be killed by
An errant footstep.
Ooof, truth😔 I wonder if Godzilla even feels it when he steps on people…
Glowering beneath
the waves. Atomic malice
For Nagasaki.
Atomic malice is a great phrase🖤
A prayer :
Godzilla Guruji great kaiju,
Rise from seabed hyber-space
Set the world order into place
Knock monster Putin on his face.
And while he’s at it…
Kaiju guardian
Watching from the depths with grace
Gojira, our hope
This is beautiful🥹Such a tender little poem for such a big guy.
Many have tried to remove the King of the Monsters from his throne...and failed.
Ghidorah👀
The lengths we will go
To name the beast as Other
The children we kill
Kill and kill and kill
Then birth the monstrosity
This is how we live
Wow, there’s so much emotion in this. I’d love to hear what’s behind it.

So well put. I say write that essay❤️
Thanks! I think I might 😆
Born of the atom
Emerging from the ocean
Become Zilla-God!
I’m starting to think you’re a big Godzilla fan🤔😂 I really like this one it’s got an epic tone🖤
I love Godzilla! I grew up watching Godzilla movies on TV and in the theaters!
My son and I just saw the newest movie. He’s a Godzilla fan, but I love King Kong so it was cool that they had to team up in the movie.
My friends and I loved this as kids:

King Kong forever ❤️

Tokyo destroyed;
Buildings burning and levelled.
Go, go Godzilla!
Yeah, he’s more of an anti-hero I guess😅
Haiku- Godzilla Searched Mozilla and Got an Idea...
"Then when he realized…
…selling homes beats smashing them,
Godzillow was born."
Genius😌 I love it🖤
Blue Oyster Cult sings:
Man's folly by Nature shown;
Nemesis of Man.
I don’t know that song. It sounds like man’s folly is man… which I agree with😂
It's a classic!
"He picks up a bus and he throws it back down as he wades through the buildings in the center of town/Oh no!They say he's got go! Go go Godzilla!/Oh no! There goes Tokyo! Go go Godzilla!"

The atom called him.
Awake, ravenous, enraged
Nature heals itself with death

Ohhhhh I didn't realize there was a theme! My bad. Theme away! Don't worry I got a Thesaurus.
"Day of the Triffids" is probably his biggest book. After you read it (AFTER!), there's a couple movie/TV versions too. Varying quality. But fun!
I will definitely read the book first. I’ll almost always go for the book before the movie in these instances. Books are always better.
