Cor is, again, my favorite. I put a haiku volume of his on my Amazon list🖤 But I also really like the last one, and for some reason the Kerouac one is chilling to me, idk 😜
I read a lot of his books in college, he definitely resonated, despite most of my professors telling me he wasn’t worth reading (post modernism was all the rage then). You are definitely making me want to reread one or two.
My dolly squeaked out
a blessing, or maybe a curse -
we'll find out next year.
😬 Need one of those pagan priests, I think they speak corn dolly.

Love me some ghost eating worms! I think you may have stumbled on a life saving solution for haunted lakes everywhere.

A doll full of grain—
waiting for spring’s warm release,
trapped beneath the frost.
♾️ Sonia Sanchez
Braided spirit laughs,
held tight in a dolly’s weave—
we bury her deep.
♾️ Jack Kerouac
Twisting in my hands,
corn dollies dance on the breeze—
too soon to let go.

Doll of the harvest—
spring will undo your binding,
but will you come back?
♾️ Cor van den Heuvel
Tied too tight again,
corn dollie sits on the shelf—
wind whispers her name.
♾️ Nick Virgilio
Corn dolly forgotten,
her spirit waits for release—
spring comes slowly now.

Jack Kerouac was a very weird dude who was most definitely on a different spectrum.
I read a lot of his books in college, he definitely resonated, despite most of my professors telling me he wasn’t worth reading (post modernism was all the rage then). You are definitely making me want to reread one or two.
I learned to write Haiku and Senryu from reading and rereading books of poetry.
The past has no mouth
To scream as we bury her
Under the future
Oh man, I love this on so many levels! Well done 🖤
I have a corn doll
Hanging from my ceiling fan
she craves my garden
Oo nice! There are some spooky layers here, I really like it🖤
Thank you 😊
Locked in an iron box,
she can’t see us roast the corn,
but she can smell it.
Omg this *would* be torture! 😋
No Face corn doll

Sheathed husks folded
Tell secret story tribal tales.
I found a legend from the Haudenosaunee people about a corn husk doll who got conceited and had her face taken away by The Great Spirit?
That’s the one. Other tales too.
A mask for spirits,
To hide behind, and wait for,
The call of springtime... 😎
Beautiful, I love this image!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it... 😎
Tiny guardian

Oh this is cool! I like the connection between protecting the doll and protecting the land.
