Dark contorted soul

Laid down in ancient winter

Rises from it's tomb

I love the nebulous feeling of this. The only description we have is that it’s a soul... so what IS it? Very cool🖤

A cold chrysalis

With blackened, frostbitten skin

Lies swaddled in snow

Dry, dried, dusty bones

Preserved for future people

To ogle your corpse

“Ogle” is such a great verb for someone looking at a mummy

It's what we do, though, isn't it? All those Pharoahs just became the archeological equivalent of a carnival freak show...😉

Oh boy... ogling is only part of the story.... you might have just inspired another MM post😏

I love this! So creepy! Reminds me of Carl Tanzler.

Wow! That's amazing.

"Tanzler attached the corpse's bones together with piano wire and fitted the face with glass eyes. As the skin of the corpse decomposed, Tanzler replaced it with silk cloth soaked in wax and plaster of paris. As the hair fell out of Elena's decomposing scalp, Tanzler fashioned a wig from her hair, which he had previously obtained from her mother.[8] Tanzler filled the corpse's abdominal and chest cavity with rags to keep the original form, dressed Elena's remains in stockings, jewelry, and gloves, and kept the body in his bed. Tanzler also used copious amounts of perfume, disinfectants, and preserving agents to mask the odor and forestall the effects of the corpse's decomposition."

It’s bonkers. I don’t know how you get so obsessed over anything, let alone a corpse.

I guess it would depend on the corpse for me.

All joking aside, it sounds like a lot of work.

My mummy dearest

I don’t know if you intended this, but the double image I get from this is so cool, like part Norman Bates part ancient Egyptian dynasty. 🖤

So, I first thought of Mummy as a word for Mom (it’s a sorta British thing). Then I thought of that movie Mommie Dearest. Remember: No wire hangers! Anyway, then I thought of another movie, The Mummy. That’s my mind you see in that double image. 🤣
