Ten Senryu about the prompt, autumnal equinox, without using the exact words:

∞ Clock hands align

Nature hits snooze button

Darkness lingers

∞ Celestial seesaw

Teeters toward longer nights

Stars rub sleepy eyes

∞ Sun's overtime ends

Moon clocks in for extra shifts

Cosmic union rules

∞ Pumpkin spice invades

As chlorophyll packs its bags

Yearly hostile takeover

∞ Day and night arm-wrestle

To a draw, then night cheats

Winter referee nods

∞ Squirrels hoard acorns

While humans hoard sweaters

Who's really smarter?

∞ Trees flash their medals

Before shedding modesty

Nature's brief burlesque

∞ Farmer's tan fades

Replaced by Netflix pallor

Screen light harvested

∞ Scarves emerge from exile

Noses turn to runny taps

Fall's sniffly symphony

∞ Sandals sulk in closets

As boots march triumphantly

Seasonal coup d'état

Light no fires tonight,

let no blood in sacrifice -

just day equals night

____

The calendar calls

for days when moderation

overrules death's drama

Oh, I love this! A night of balance, very cool take🖤

Goodbye to my friends

Hummingbirds that light my skies

Migration time now

Caro Henry's avatar

Good one! This past week the hummingbirds were tussling at the feeder. I think they were mostly males gearing up to move farther south.

Honeygloom's avatar

Oh, so beautiful! We have them year-round in California. It’s crazy to see them out fighting each other over the feeder in the middle of massive rainstorms🤪 Truly amazing creatures🖤

Yes, I live in the East where we lose the tiny dancers every fall!

I do miss the life they bring to the backyard. Usually they are gone by now, but the heat has delayed their departure by a few days, to my delight!

Opposing the ides

Comes the death of green - orange

and yellow arise

I love this! I really like the slant rhyme in lines one and three🖤

Love this one 🌸🩷🌸

Amber hues tilt low

Whispers bend through empty skies

Time breathes a soft hush.

Honeygloom's avatar

So beautiful and peaceful 🖤

That's really lovely. It perfectly captures that sense of nature getting ready to rest... 😎

Hemispheres equal night and day.

Leaves fall one s way in dark.

Another sphere arrive buds in light

Honeygloom's avatar

So good! I love the reminder that it’s also spring elsewhere on the planet 🖤

Caro Henry's avatar

Darkness swallows day

Moonlight bleeds on fallen leaves

As time slips through cracks

Honeygloom's avatar

So ethereal, I love it!

This feels unequal

Mid-tllt from Cancer’s tropics

To cold Capricorn

Honeygloom's avatar

Ah, false equality? That never happens🙃

Time to sharpen fangs,

A feast draws near, summer's gone,

And long nights are here... 😎

Honeygloom's avatar

Ooo 🔥 Let’s do this!

Chris J. Franklin's avatar

Haha! 😎👍

The start and the end

Balanced for one single day

The beast grins darkly

Ooo so lovely and chilling🖤
