Fields are often left fallow, or unplanted, in order to let the soil replenish its nutrients.
Your prompt is FALLOW
The fields lay fallow
We thought to starve the spirits
Now specters, are we
But sometimes fields are left fallow because the land is bad, as in haunted, poisoned, or cursed, and nothing good will come of planting it.
Fallow fields awake
Beneath the harvest moon's gaze
Forgotten souls weep
Earth, like all of us,
needs a rest, a nice lie-down
to not be frazzled

Here we honour soil
by letting her take a break,
plumping the pillows
