The neighborhood is in uproar, not just because of the murder, but also because the cops inadvertently showed the footage from my neighbors’ security system to a few of them who were hanging around. It shows… a floating candlestick doing the killing. The police have tech guys working on it, they’re obligated to assume it’s some sort of trick I’d imagine. August is thoroughly enjoying all the drama and has been teasing investigators all day. He moves their things, breaks equipment, makes noises. He told me he’s been whispering to the lead investigator all day and telling him to dig up the backyard. Which of course will be pointless. I wonder if they’ll ever come to the conclusion that it’s a ghost or just drive themselves mental trying to force the supernatural into a logical shape. They should be done gathering evidence soon, since there isn’t any.
Today we drew the Four of Wands. August thinks it’s an omen that he’ll succeed in driving the investigators to madness. He could be right, I’ve seen nothing but arguments out my window today. I wish he’d stop. I wish I knew how to stop him. My only option is to leave for a few days. He’ll be weakened and forced to stop his games or he’ll have to come with me. I can’t really afford to just pick up and go on a mini vacation though. Meanwhile his weird smile has become a gruesome, toothy grin. He paces my office, planning pranks and laughing to himself about the investigators’ increasingly edgy behavior. I’m getting worried. I may have to leave soon whether I can afford it or not.
I believe this happened.
