A shrieking heart
Nightmares reaching inward. We drew the reversed Nine of Swords today. Does August have a heart, I think so, but it shrieks instead of beating. It’s like an alarm, a pulsing scream that won’t ever let him rest. I can hear it sometimes when his weird smile twitches. When his eyes roll back into his head and he just… floats. Sometimes for hours at a time. I think that’s when the memory of falling comes back to him, over and over he falls, feeling free and trapped all at once. Free of the earth, but trapped by its gravity. Then he hits the rocks. Over and over. With every heart shriek.
