Temperance reversed, it means I can’t sleep my afterlife away, I know. I stayed awake for most of the morning. It was so hard. But I saw something. Behind the hospital there is a cemetery inhabited by a small heard of cattle. Or it was anyway, today every cow was dead. Their bloated corpses littered the little valley that holds Deadwater’s dead. And as I watched a mass of vultures descended. They were huge, hulking birds with blood red chest feathers.
Vultures are a sign of renewal so this may be a good omen. I woke the goat to show him and he seemed to agree.

Drew The Star again today and I am feeling a modicum of hope. The vultures are still feasting, I watched them for hours, ripping and tearing through flesh to get at the bones. They crushed the bones and devoured them, leaving all the meat to rot. I have also discovered that they paint their own feathers red with blood.
Have been able to stay awake longer today thanks to the vultures.

I am puzzled by today’s card, the reversed Ace of Cups. Upright it indicates a burgeoning love, but reversed could mean a number of things. None of which seem even remotely applicable in this liminal place where I’ve only vultures and a goat for companions.

I saw another person here today. I had gone to the library for a book and I saw them hiding among the stacks. I can’t say much about them as I only saw a glimpse. Admittedly, I was scared and ran.
Back at the hospital I paced, unable to stay still. Do I seek the mystery person out? Yesterday’s card could indicate an enemy hides in the library. I drew a card for guidance, but got the Two of Swords. Yes, I know I’m at a stalemate, Universe, thanks for the heads up.
You got me at vultures. Intriguing.
