I had the door to my trailer open this afternoon, to let the fresh air in, and a tiger jumped up inside. He circled around on my bed and plopped down to sleep. A tiger. My card was the Eight of Swords reversed. Freeing myself, taking back my power. I lay down next to the tiger and fell asleep, too. I had the sweetest dreams.

I had a little panic attack today about work as I stared at my dead laptop. I do have deadlines to meet. How did I expect to meet them out in the middle of nowhere? I sat down and drew a card to help me think, the Six of Pentacles reversed. I needed to stop freaking out about going broke and look for a solution. As it turns out, the wifi here runs on magic. The password is armadillo13. And demons can charge a laptop with just a look.

At breakfast I drew The Hierophant. I wasn’t sure what to make of it so Mal took me to meet his best fortuneteller. She was ancient, her eyes were deep blue pools flecked with gold and I saw my futures in them. There were so many.
“Nothing’s set in stone,” she said with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. “What you have are probabilities based on variables. If you drop a lotus in a river that splits into three channels, currents, obstacles, wind, animals, they will all change the lotus’ course as it flows toward the split. So how many possible futures does the lotus have?”
Her name was Dolphina. She ran the liquor store in Deadwater and sat on a dirty yellow stool as we spoke.
“Infinite I guess. It could sink, a bird could carry it off, a sinkhole could open up under the river….” I paused, she was smiling. “But then, how do you tell the future.”
“Probabilities based on variables. It’s more math than magic.” She chuckled, her lungs rumbled unnaturally as she did. “You’ll figure it out.”
I think I’m really meant for this place.
