August wasn’t around today so I pulled my own card, the Two of Swords, reversed. I knew what it meant, a stalemate resolved. Mal must have had found a way to force August to leave this plane. I went to see him and I was right, he has, or rather, Piper, Mal’s daughter has. Piper is a spitfire, to say the least. Once you put her on a problem, she’ll work at it until it’s solved, no matter who has to die in the process. I’m exaggerating, a little, but she is very tenacious and she’s thinks she’s found a way to banish August for good. It’s… messy though.

Today I drew the Mother of Pentacles reversed for August. A sign he could be a little nicer, but that’s not how he took it.
“Of course I’m not domestic and loving, I’m a man.”
“You were a man, now you’re delusional ectoplasm.”
“And what are you? Hm?”
“Beats me, but at least I’m not delusional ectoplasm.”
“Not yet, anyway.”

While the Circus is getting things ready for August’s expulsion from the mortal plane, I’m supposed to distract him. Which isn’t hard. Today I drew the Six of Cups.
“Oh, August, this card says that memories from your childhood will resurface.”
“Dear God, no. I can’t think about that. I can’t. Did I ever tell you about the time my own father tried to sell me to the work house. He was caught, however, because the proprietor was a member of the same gentleman’s club as him and knew he had means to take care of me.”
He went on like this most of the day.

“Oh, look August, the Sun. New things are on your horizon.” We were in the common dining area, I was having tea with Piper.
“I hate new things.”
“New things probably hate you, too, immensely,” Piper said from under a floppy black hat.
“Well, that’s just- I mean. Really.” August huffed. Piper just grinned at him. I really do like this girl.
